Our People

James Myers received his CPA designation in 1992.   He began training in 1989 at Coopers & Lybrand (a predecessor to PricewaterhouseCoopers) where he served as audit manager from 1993 to1994, a role he continued for the following year at another firm.  In 1995, James established his own public accounting practice, which entered partnership as Myers Tsiofas Norheim LLP in 1997.  He resumed sole practice in 2019 as James Myers Professional Corporation, which serves the accounting and taxation needs of owner-managed businesses and provides controllership services that include bookkeeping, monthly financial reporting, payroll and HST preparation, and cash flow management.

Before entering the world of accounting James studied history and received his Bachelor of Arts in 1989 from the University of Toronto, where he lectured in advanced undergraduate accounting from 2002 to 2012.  James has served as a director for a number of not-for-profit organizations.  James’ interests include geometry, mathematics, physics, and philosophy.  James is host of Plato’s Pod, a podcast discussion on the complete works of Plato (available on Spotify and on other platforms).  James is completing research on a method of accounting for quantum computing based on Luca Pacioli’s 1494 text, and is writing a novel on the collaboration of Pacioli and Leonardo da Vinci in Milan from 1496-1499.

Derek Armitage began working with James Myers in 2004.  Derek’s expertise is bookkeeping, payroll, HST, and account analysis.
